Sage acquires FUTRLI
Hard on the heels of acquiring GoProposal Sage is rushing to get back into the market it neglected by being very late into online.
It was a challenge for them because being the long-time originator and market leader in ‘out of the box’ software, for which it charged a high and recurring price, they were confronted with a dilemma when Xero appeared, followed by other low cost online bookkeeping / accountancy products.
They agonised for years about cannibalising their still lucrative revenue until it hit the share price forcing the catch up we are seeing in action now.
Let’s now see if the behemoth can be nimble enough to give its acquired entrepreneurs enough free rein to go on developing, or whether it will crush them with bigcorp bureaucracy.
